A few more green thoughts...
I thought I'd to say a bit more about how we try to make our practice more enviromentally sensitive in case you wondered!
We promise, wherever possible, all of our packaging is made from recycled materials, it is also recyclable and hopefully so lovely and useful that you'll save it and pass it on. We've been so pleased over the last 18 months how much packaging suppliers have embraced the green imperitave and are offering many more eco sensitive options (and less plastic ones!)
We recommend Kite Packaging for recycled paper voidfill, hivewrap and postal boxes. The Tiny Box Company for recycled and vegan tissue paper and small recycled gift boxes.
Any plastic that you might find in our parcels has been donated by other local businesses so is being re-used. Hopefully as time goes on there will be less and less bubblewrap and plastic tape in circulation so eventually we'll all stop seeing it altogether, until then we will re-use it if it comes our way but it is never our first choice.
We fire our lives using energy from Bulb who promise to provide their customers with 100% renewable electricity from solar, wind and hydro and they are still going strong! Which in these challenging times is very good news!
We operate a water saving system in the studio, by using a catchment system all grey water is re-used within the studio, sometimes many times!
Finally, we are becoming increasingly aware of mining issues around the world for the ceramic industry, particularly for colouring oxides and have promised to use what we have but buy no more. We are also researching local alternatives and hope to apply our findings in due course.
To sum up, I just wanted to let you know that ecological considerations are very high on our list of priorities and we try hard to make the very best choices we can based on these priorities and the current thinking.
